The band has performed over 4,000 times since it was established in March 1980. Andre Barreau, Neil Harrison and David Catlin-Birch formed it after the final show of the West End musical Beatlemania, in which they were London cast members. In 2010 the band made its first headline appearance on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and it returned to that stage in 2013, 2023 and 2024.
