The Mountain Goats at Albert Hall, Manchester, 16 October 2026

The Mountain Goats play Albert Hall in Manchester on 16 October 2026, 19:00. The Mountain Goats are an American indie folk band formed in Claremont, California, by singer-songwriter John Darnielle. Since 2003, the band has been based in Durham, North Carolina.

For many years Darnielle was the only member, despite the plural name, and he has since worked with collaborators including bassist and vocalist Peter Hughes, drummer Jon Wurster and multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas. Through the 1990s the band was known for low-fidelity home recordings made on a cassette deck boombox, released on cassette or vinyl 7-inch. Since 2002 it has taken a more polished approach, often recording studio albums with a full band.
