The Cincinnati Cyclones, a professional minor league ice hockey team in the ECHL, host the Fort Wayne Komets at Heritage Bank Center. The franchise has won two Kelly Cups (2008 and 2010) and set the league record for most successful season in 2007–08 with 55 wins and 115 points. The game is part of the regular season schedule.

The Cyclones previously played at Cincinnati Gardens and now call Heritage Bank Center home. During the 2008 Kelly Cup, the team drew 12,722 fans to the final postseason game. The matchup against the Komets continues the Cyclones' pursuit of another division championship following titles in 1996, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2019, and 2023.
