Dragon Smoke at The Independent

Dragon Smoke is a superjam band that began as an impromptu collaboration during the New Orleans Jazz Fest tradition in 2003, taking its name from the Dragon's Den Bar where it formed. The lineup features Eric Lindell on vocals and guitar, Ivan Neville on vocals and keyboards, Stanton Moore on drums, and Robert Mercurio on bass. Their music blends Lindell's blue-eyed soul with Neville's funk and R&B, driven by the Galactic rhythm section's groove. Despite rarely touring outside of New Orleans, the band's chemistry makes every show feel like a tight, long-running tour.

The evening also includes a set from DJ Harry Duncan, a Bay Area-based producer known for his eclectic Roots & Rhythm mix. His style spans soul, funk, blues, reggae, ska, jazz, and world music, offering a danceable alternative to typical festival music.
