Über Aborted

Categorized as death metal with strong deathgrind and grindcore elements, Aborted is known for blast beats, double-bass drumming and de Caluwé's growled vocals, delivered with a technical proficiency that has made the band a fixture of the European extreme metal touring circuit. The group has released twelve studio albums and six EPs, including Goremageddon: The Saw and the Carnage Done (2003), Global Flatline (2012), The Necrotic Manifesto (2014) and Retrogore (2016), alongside a live DVD.

Across three decades the band's sound has shifted from its earlier grindcore-leaning material toward more overtly technical death metal, and in recent years toward elements of deathcore, while its graphic, horror-themed lyrics and de Caluwé's guttural delivery have remained constants. The lineup around him has changed repeatedly, with guitarist Ian Jekelis joining in 2015 and guitarist Daníel Konráðsson joining in 2022, reflecting a broader shift from an all-Belgian roster to an international one.

Aborted released its most recent studio album, Vault of Horrors, on 15 March 2024, and added Siebe Hermans as touring drummer in 2025, reflecting the band's continued recording and touring activity roughly three decades after its formation in Waregem.
