Über Angine de Poitrine
Their debut album, Vol. 1 (2024), established a sound built on math rock, progressive rock and experimental rock, marked by microtonal instruments and complex polyrhythms. The duo won Artist of the Year at the 2025 GAMIQ awards in Quebec, and a session recorded for radio station KEXP in February 2026 spread widely online, drawing praise from musicians including Dave Grohl and Sean Lennon.
The project began almost as a joke: booked to play two sets in one night at the same club, the pair returned for the second set in oversized papier-mache masks and polka-dot costumes and kept the format. They built a following on the Quebec festival circuit before the KEXP session introduced their music to listeners well beyond Canada.
Vol. II, a largely instrumental record blending progressive and math rock with danceable rhythms, followed in April 2026 on the label Spectacles Bonzai, reaching number one on the UK Rock and Metal Albums chart and earning a shortlist spot for the Polaris Music Prize. The duo continues to perform internationally while keeping their identities private.
