This documentary offers an intimate look at celebrated opera singers and musicians living out their 'third act' at Milan's Casa Verdi, a retirement home built by composer Giuseppe Verdi in 1896. The film follows these artists as they mentor international music students who live among them, blending archival footage with timeless music.
Directed by Yvonne Russo and produced by Christine La Monte and Ron Simons, the film had its world premiere at the Woodstock Film Festival in 2024 and later screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. It received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song, "Sweet Dreams of Joy," performed by soprano Ana María Martínez.
