What it is.
Kraków runs three Christmas markets at once each winter: the main one filling roughly a quarter of Rynek Główny (the Main Market Square), a smaller one at Plac Wolnica in the Kazimierz district, and a compact market outside the Galeria Krakowska shopping mall. The main square market is organised by the Kraków Merchant Congregation and run by the company Artim, with a stallholder tradition the organiser traces back more than 30 years.
Dates and opening hours. The 2026/27 market on Rynek Główny runs from 27 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, as announced by the city's official tourist information service (pik.krakow.pl). For comparison, the 2025/26 edition ran from 28 November 2025 to 1 January 2026. Typical hours are 10:00–20:00 daily, with food stalls often staying open until around 22:00.
Where it is. The largest market sits on Rynek Główny in the pedestrianised Old Town. Plac Wolnica, in the Kazimierz district just south of the Old Town, hosts a smaller market with around 30 stalls. The third, more compact market is outside the Galeria Krakowska shopping centre next to the main train station.
Entry and attractions. All three markets are free to enter. Together they offer roughly eighty stalls (mostly on the main square) from Polish and international vendors, selling handmade ornaments, woodcrafts, jewellery and decorations.
What to eat and buy. Expect Polish market staples: piernik (gingerbread), oscypek (smoked sheep's cheese, often grilled and served with cranberry sauce), and grzaniec (mulled wine), alongside handcrafted gifts and decorations from stallholders.
Getting there. Rynek Główny is about a 10–15 minute walk from Kraków Główny train station through the Old Town, or a short tram ride to one of the Old Town stops. The Galeria Krakowska market sits right by the station itself, making it the easiest to reach on arrival.
Tips. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are calmer; weekends and December evenings get very busy, especially close to Christmas. Opening hours for 2026 are published closer to the date, so check the official page shortly before travelling.
On 27 November 2026. The market on Rynek Główny runs until 6 January 2027, according to the city's official tourist information service (pik.krakow.pl).
Yes, entry to all three markets — Rynek Główny, Plac Wolnica and the Galeria Krakowska market — is free.
Mainly on Rynek Główny (Main Market Square), with smaller markets at Plac Wolnica in Kazimierz and outside Galeria Krakowska shopping centre.
Typically 10:00–20:00 daily, with food stalls often serving later, based on recent editions.
The organiser has not listed an ice rink for the Kraków markets, so don't plan a visit around one; the markets themselves are the draw.
The 2026/27 edition runs from 27 November 2026 to 6 January 2027 — about six weeks, into the New Year.
It's a 10–15 minute walk from Kraków Główny through the Old Town to Rynek Główny, or the Galeria Krakowska market is right next to the station.
