She grew up in a run-down social housing flat among detached family homes, and she describes the shame of having little and not belonging, which has shaped her since she started school. She has since risen socially and earns more than her parents ever did. Beyond the obvious settings of poverty, she looks at dating, friendships, starting a family, mental health, the role of the television and life as the first student in her family.

She also shows why poor people are disadvantaged even in death. Centralstation was created in 1999 from a former machine hall in Darmstadt's city centre. It has a hall on the ground floor and a Saal on the upper floor, and mainly hosts live concerts and club events.
