Martin Stephenson & The Daintees bring their blend of rock, folk, and pop to Edinburgh. The band, known for combining rockabilly, show tunes, rootsy pop, and punk, released their first single in 1982 on Kitchenware Records. Their 1986 album *Boat to Bolivia* remains their most acclaimed work, and they have continued to tour and record into the 2020s.
Attendees can expect a performance drawing from the band's extensive catalog, including material from *Boat to Bolivia* and later albums like *Howdy Honcho* (2021) and *You Belong To Blue* (2023). The current lineup features original guitarist John Steel, drummer Kate Stephenson, and bassist Lou Short. The concert offers a chance to hear songs from a career spanning over four decades.
This show is part of the band's ongoing activity following their reformation in 2000 and a 2012 tour playing *Boat to Bolivia* in full. Stephenson's work has increasingly drawn on folk music and traditional roots, with recordings made in a Scottish church and a disused lighthouse.
