Autocolante: Iconografia da Liberdade

This exhibition at MUDE – Museu do Design celebrates the humble sticker as a powerful tool of visual communication and political mobilization. Curated by José Pacheco Pereira, it revisits five decades of Portuguese democracy through hundreds of stickers that trace the evolution of discourse, causes, and movements from before the 25th of April 1974 to the present.

Visitors will encounter stickers of resistance against the regime, post-Revolution electoral campaigns, and symbols from presidential, local, and European elections. The show also delves into major social causes and collective struggles, from land reform to LGBTQIA+ rights, union action, and the climate emergency, revealing how ephemeral objects become fundamental documents of history and societal transformation.
