Da Matriz à Impressão: Printmaking Exhibition at Museu do Oriente

This exhibition at the Museu do Oriente celebrates 25 years of the Associação de Gravura Água-Forte, bringing together works by 45 artists from different generations and geographies. Curated by Fátima Ferreira, co-founder of the association, the show explores the slow, deliberate process of printmaking—from etching and drypoint to mezzotint and woodcut—as a counterpoint to the immediacy of digital images.

Visitors can trace the Asian origins of printmaking and its historical role in spreading knowledge across religious, political, and cultural contexts. The exhibition also features a parallel program of artist talks and hands-on workshops, including a Scratch art session with Masataka Kuroyanagi using materials from Japan, as well as introductions to linocut, drypoint, collagraphy, and burin engraving.
