Grande Retrospetiva Agnès Varda

This summer, Lisbon's Cinema Nimas hosts the largest retrospective of Agnès Varda ever held in Portugal, celebrating the Belgian-born French filmmaker (1928–2019). The programme spans 36 films — features, documentaries, and shorts — showcasing Varda's pioneering role in the French New Wave and her lifelong experimentation with form.

Attendees can explore Varda's unique blend of fiction and documentary, from her debut *Le Pointe Court* (1954, edited by Alain Resnais) to the iconic *Cléo de 5 à 7* (1962) and the Golden Lion winner *Sans Toit ni loi* (1985). Later works like *Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse* (2000) reflect her social critique and feminist perspective, while the autobiographical *Les plages d'Agnès* (2008) offers a deeply personal journey through her memories.

The retrospective includes a rich selection of features such as *Le Bonheur*, *Les Créatures*, and *Kung-Fu Master!*, alongside documentaries like *Mur Murs* and *Jane B. par Agnès V.*, plus numerous shorts. It's a rare opportunity to experience the full breadth of Varda's visionary cinema.
