The Cleveland Guardians are a Major League Baseball team based in Cleveland, Ohio, playing in the American League Central. The franchise has fielded a team in the city since 1901 and has played under several names over the decades, most recently as the Cleveland Indians from 1915 until 2021, before adopting the Guardians name in 2022. The team plays at Progressive Field, which opened in 1994.
The franchise has won two World Series titles, in 1920 and 1948, and reached the Fall Classic on several other occasions. It broke the American League's color barrier when Larry Doby signed in 1947, and its 1954 team set what was then an AL record with 111 regular-season wins.
