Houston Texans
The Houston Texans are a professional American football franchise based in Houston, Texas, competing in the AFC South division of the National Football League. The team was established in 1999, when NFL owners awarded Houston an expansion franchise to founding owner Bob McNair, and it began play in 2002.

About Houston Texans
As the league's youngest franchise, the Texans endured a difficult first decade before winning their first AFC South title and reaching the playoffs for the first time in 2011. The club has since claimed eight division championships and nine playoff berths, though it remains among a small group of NFL franchises yet to reach a Super Bowl.
Bob McNair owned the franchise until his death in 2018, after which control passed to his wife, Janice McNair, and later to their son, Cal McNair. The team's early seasons were defined by rebuilding years, with the 2011 campaign marking its first sustained on-field success.
Under head coach DeMeco Ryans and quarterback C.J. Stroud, the Texans won the AFC South in 2023, becoming the first team in NFL history to do so with both a first-year head coach and a rookie starting quarterback, and followed it with another playoff appearance and the franchise's first road playoff win the following season.
