Wiener Opernball 2027: the 69th Vienna Opera Ball at the Wiener Staatsoper on 4 February 2027

Doors open at 20:15, and the ball is held under the honorary patronage of the federal president of Austria, Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen.

The organiser publishes a fixed timetable for the night. The federal president arrives at 21:00, the opening ceremony begins at 22:00, and at 22:45 the floor is released to all guests with the traditional call of »Alles Walzer«. Three quadrilles are danced in the ballroom during the night: the Fledermaus-Quadrille at 00:00, the Orpheus-Quadrille at 02:00 and the Maskenball-Quadrille at 04:00. The ball ends at 05:00.

For one night the opera house is turned into a ballroom spread over 9 floors, with 20 bars and buffets, 5 dance floors and music in 16 genres, according to the organiser.

A binding dress code applies to every guest: a floor-length ball gown in any colour for women, with traditional Tracht or a festive dirndl not accepted, and for men a black tailcoat (Frack) with a white dress shirt, a white bow tie and black patent-leather shoes. A gala uniform is also permitted.

Tickets, table places and boxes are sold only by the Opernball-Büro of the Wiener Staatsoper, directly to ball guests. An entry ticket costs 435 € and gives access to all ball areas without a fixed seat; up to 4 tickets may be bought per person, and the price includes a 35 € solidarity contribution to Österreich hilft Österreich.

Entry tickets are allocated by lottery, and registration for the 2027 draw ran from 01 June to 05 June and is already closed. A table place, which includes the entry ticket, costs 665 €, is limited to 6 per person and has been on sale since 24 June 2026.

The dress rehearsal of the opening, the Generalprobe der Eröffnung, is held the evening before, on 3 February 2027: doors open at 19:00 and the run-through starts at 20:00 and ends at 21:00.
