The city tourist board's listing on zuerich.com names six markets opening in the city centre on that date: the Zürcher Weihnachtsallee on the Europaallee, the Dörfli market in the Altstadt, the market in the Hauptbahnhof, the Münsterhof market, the Werdmühleplatz market and Bellevue Noël. The Hauptbahnhof and Münsterhof markets run until 24 December 2026; the other four close on 23 December 2026.

The market in the Hauptbahnhof fills the station concourse with more than 100 stalls and a large Christmas tree. Non-food stalls trade from 11.00 to 21.00 between Sunday and Wednesday and from 11.00 to 22.00 between Thursday and Saturday; food and take-away stands close an hour later, at 22.00 and 23.00 respectively. A few minutes away on the Europaallee, the Zürcher Weihnachtsallee offers food from around the world, design stalls, a karaoke bar and a fondue chalet.

The Dörfli market is the oldest Christmas market in Zurich. Its stalls spread along the Niederdorfstrasse and across the Hirschenplatz towards the Grossmünster, and children can skate free of charge on a small ice rink in the Rosenhof. The operator gives opening hours of 11.00 to 21.00 from Monday to Thursday, 11.00 to 22.00 on Friday and Saturday, and 11.00 to 20.00 on Sunday.

On the Münsterhof, the market is framed by the Fraumünster church and the historic guild houses around the square. Its operator lists hours of 11.00 to 21.30 from Monday to Saturday and 11.00 to 19.30 on Sunday.

Next to the Bahnhofstrasse, the Werdmühleplatz hosts the Wiehnachtsmärt with the Singing Christmas Tree, a stage on which more than 40 choirs perform over the season. The market is open from 16 to 21 on Monday to Thursday, 16 to 22 on Friday, 13 to 22 on Saturday and 13 to 21 on Sunday (24-hour clock); the choirs sing from 17.30, and from 14.30 at weekends.

Bellevue Noël is new for 2026 on the Sechseläutenplatz in front of the opera house and succeeds the long-running Wienachtsdorf. Its centrepiece is a walk-on Advent wreath 50 metres wide, built from wood sourced in Switzerland. Access to the wreath is free but requires a ticket, available online in advance or on site.
