The trap is THE HALL. It bills itself as a Zürich venue and is listed that way by promoters, but it stands in Dübendorf, a separate town on the S-Bahn. If you are chasing a specific act and a Zürich search comes up empty, look there before concluding the tour skipped Switzerland.

The west is a different circuit

French-speaking Switzerland runs its own programme and much of it does not tour east — but its depth is in theatre and comedy rather than concerts. Geneva’s busiest rooms by a distance are its French-language theatres. On the music side, the Bâtiment des Forces Motrices — a converted Rhône power station — handles concerts, opera and classical, Arena Genève takes the arena-scale nights, and the Théâtre de Beaulieu is Lausanne’s main room.

The same split shows up at the smaller festival sites: Melantropia at the Parc des Rives in Yverdon-les-Bains and the francophone comedy circuit in Geneva have no real equivalent in the German-speaking listings, and vice versa.

Practical: tickets, transport and timing
