Overview

Festival main day: 24/10/2026 (Heritage Private School, Limassol) Open Sports Festival 2026: rugby and chess make their debut at Cyprus’ largest corporate sports festival On 24 October 2026, Heritage Private School in Limassol turns into a sports ground for a day, as hundreds of employees from leading companies in Cyprus and abroad take to the pitches in their company colours. Open Sports Festival 2026 runs for the sixth consecutive year and is the largest corporate sports festival in Cyprus. It features 18 sports and activities and brings together more than 60 organisations. Entry is free for spectators, families and children. New games for 2026: rugby and chess This year the programme opens up in two directions it has never tried before. Rugby joins the main-day programme for the first time on 24 October 2026, in cooperation with the Cyprus Rugby Federation. Few sports show so clearly what a team is: the ball only travels backwards, so to move forward someone else has to run for you. The match format has been adapted so that teams with no prior experience can play, with coaching from the Federation on the day. A week earlier, on 17 October 2026, the Open Sports Festival Chess Tournament by Alber Blanc takes place at City of Dreams Mediterranean. Chess brings an entirely different kind of intensity to the festival: no shouting, no whistle, just the clock and the next move. The tournament is open to all levels, from complete beginners to experienced players. Six years, 60+ companies, 2,500+ people Open Sports Festival began as a single day of matches between companies. Six years on, it is one of the few places in Cyprus where teams from Forex, IT, financial services, shipping, marketing, hospitality and energy meet outside the office. More than 2,500 professionals, families and friends have taken part. 18 sports for every level The 2026 programme includes 18 categories of sports and activities, from football, volleyball, 3on3 basketball, rugby and tug of war, through to backgammon, chess and FIFA PlayStation. A Kids Corner, DJs, street food and a bar with ice-cold drinks keep the day interesting for those who are not playing. Entry is free for spectators and the event is suitable for families with children. The day closes with the official Awards Ceremony, with trophies, medals and certificates for the winning and participating companies. Supporting a cause Since its first edition, Open Sports Festival has supported three organisations: “Ένα Όνειρο Μια Ευχή” (One Dream One Wish) — granting wishes to children with cancer and related illnesses. PASYKAF — supporting cancer patients and their families across Cyprus. Makario Children’s Hospital — offering gifts, smiles and hope to young patients.
