Weihnachtsmarkt am Kölner Dom: the Christmas market at Cologne Cathedral runs 16 November to 23 December 2026

The organiser, KW Kölner Weihnachtsgesellschaft mbH, presents it under the name "Markt der Herzen". One day in that period is excluded: on 22 November 2026, Totensonntag, the market stays closed.

Opening hours follow a weekly pattern. From Sunday to Wednesday the stalls are open 11-21, on Thursday and Friday 11-22, and on Saturday 10-22, all local time. In March 2026 the operator announced that it had again been awarded the contract to run the market at the cathedral for a further five years.

The organiser counts over 140 decorated stalls offering crafts and gifts alongside food, with space reserved for social organisations. The gift ranges listed on the official site include wood carvings, glassware, ceramics, accessories, children's toys, handmade candles and upcycled products such as bags made from retired truck tarpaulins. Goods that are not produced locally or within Europe must be Fairtrade.

The food stalls include several vegan options, among them vegan sausages, Chili sin Carne, Köttbullar and vegan bowls, and the organiser states that almost everything is sold in certified organic quality.

A central stage under a canopy of lights hosts a programme of more than 100 free events each season, and the children's programme brings theatre performances to that stage twice a week. The market holds ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management, issued by GUTcert GmbH of Berlin. Each year the organiser donates at least 50.000 Euro to social projects and charitable organisations, a sum distributed by the four mayors of the city of Köln.
