The story: under a blossoming chestnut tree, a married family man and a blind woman meet. A quiet, poetic love story develops between them, confronting both with a decision whose consequences echo for a lifetime.

Decades later the man returns to this place and recognises that some memories never fade. Accompanied by piano, cello and flute, Der Duft der Kastanie tells of love, longing and the decisions that make us who we are.
