Der Prozess - Franz Kafka / 14+ at Großes Tasch, Marburg

Der Prozess by Franz Kafka is staged in a version by Bettina Rehm and Cornelius Edlefsen at Großes Tasch, Am Schwanhof 68-72, 35037 Marburg, on Tuesday 24.11.2026 at 19:30. An introduction takes place at 19.00, followed by an audience discussion. Tickets start at 19,00 EUR, with a reduction available.

The organiser is Hessisches Landestheater Marburg GmbH, Am Schwanhof 68-72, 35037 Marburg, Deutschland. The event is for people aged 14 and over. In the story, Josef K., first chief clerk of a large bank, is arrested on the day of his thirtieth birthday; the crime he is charged with is not named and he is not taken into custody, and he is to continue his profession and everyday life as before.

Information that could explain the situation, which at first seems like a bad joke, is withheld from him. Seeking answers, Josef K. is drawn ever deeper into the labyrinth of an impenetrable bureaucracy that acts seemingly arbitrarily and follows its own incomprehensible rules. Soon the justice system, unknown to him, determines his whole life.

At the end stands the death of Josef K., without a verdict being reached or any guilt proven. Franz Kafka's (1883-1924) unfinished novel is a surreal nightmare, a crime story and a linguistically dense work of art that eludes any unambiguous interpretation. The Hessisches Landestheater Marburg, also Hessisches Landestheater or HLTM for short, is one of six publicly funded theatre operations in the state of Hessen and was founded in 1945.

It has been led since the 2018/2019 season by Eva Lange and Carola Unser-Leichtweiß. The HLTM has three venues in total: the Stadthalle, also called the Erwin-Piscator-Haus, with places for 590 guests; the Theater am Schwanhof, divided into the large Tasch with 200 places and the small Tasch with 100 places. The hall plan with fixed seats is not barrier-free; help with booking is available via the ticket hotline 069 427262 680.
