The Munich Christkindlmarkt at Marienplatz is a Christmas market in Munich that runs from 20 November to 24 December 2026. It has a 25-metre-high Christmas tree with 3000 candles at its centre. Visitors can find mulled wine and punch, edible Christmas gifts and warming snacks around Marienplatz, and vegan food and drink is available too.
The Kripperlmarkt has ten stalls selling only Nativity items: nativity scenes, figurines and accessories. The first Kripperlmarkt was held in 1757. The Grünwalder Turmbläser play at the end of the market on 24 December at 12:00.
On Sunday 13 December 2026, from 15:00 to 17:00, the Krampus run takes place in Munich city centre. Figures such as Krampus, Perchten and Klause take part, and Munich's first Krampus group, "Sparifankerl Pass", appears during the walk across the Christkindlmarkt.
The run draws up to 50,000 onlookers. The market has held its permanent place in the city centre since 1972.
