Taller de Fotobordado in Villa de Vallecas

In this hands-on workshop, participants discover the art of photo embroidery, a technique that blends image and sewing to turn photographs into unique pieces. By stitching thread onto photographic paper, attendees explore new ways of looking at and reinterpreting images, turning each stitch into a narrative element that adds meaning, emotion, and memory. The activity is designed for the general public with a recommended minimum age of 16, and no prior experience is needed—anyone interested in handmade creation and artistic experimentation is welcome.

The session is led by M. Teresa García-Muro, who has been working with textiles since 2015, both in her studio and in collaboration with various institutions. Her practice focuses on the relationship between image and sewing, drawing on the Japanese Sashiko technique and exploring the stitch as a gesture of repair, memory, and resistance. She also keeps traditional craftsmanship alive by making espadrilles. Her current research looks into the expressive possibilities of handmade paper made from cotton and linen fibers, placing her work at the crossroads of tradition and contemporary experimentation.

This free workshop takes place at La fábrica de muebles in the Cañada Real area of Villa de Vallecas, offering a unique opportunity to engage with a creative practice that values manual work and the persistence of the ephemeral.
