Näyttely/Exhibition: Shaista Malik at Oulunkylä Library

Näyttely/Exhibition: Shaista Malik is an exhibition at Oulunkylä Library in Helsinki, running from 20 to 29 October 2026. It is a first Finnish exhibition of original, hand-made textile and surface designs by Shaista Malik, a self-taught artist and designer from Pakistan. The works are on show in the library's multi-purpose space.

The artist made the works by hand and brought them to Helsinki. They include painted pattern and repeat designs, monochrome studies, tie-dyed and block-printed fabrics, smocking, hand and ribbon embroidery, fashion illustration and pencil pattern drawings. The work draws on Pakistani craft traditions, nature and colour.

The pieces are shown as the original cloth and paper rather than as reproductions. The opening takes place on 21 October 2026 from 13:00 to 15:00.
