Napalm Death play Gagarin 205 in Athens on Friday 27 November as part of their Campaign for Musical Destruction tour, the grindcore pioneers' first headline show in the city in years. Formed in Birmingham in the early 1980s, the band built its reputation on some of the shortest, most extreme tracks ever recorded and a frontman, Mark 'Barney' Greenway, known as much for outspoken political commentary as for cookie-monster vocals. Support in Athens comes from Master, the long-running US death metal project led by Paul Speckmann, plus Australia's Brat and Finland's Goatburner. Doors open at 20:00, with tickets starting from €31. Four decades on, Napalm Death remain one of extreme metal's few genuinely uncompromising acts, still touring clubs rather than arenas.
