Best festivals in Croatia 2026
Croatia packs one of Europe's most varied festival calendars into a long, warm Adriatic season. The coast hosts the headline acts: Ultra Europe turns Split into one of the world's biggest electronic-music destinations in mid-July, while Dubrovnik's Old Town and fortresses stage the stately Dubrovnik Summer Festival of theatre, classical music and opera from July into late August.

Quick answer
Inland and along the Istrian coast there is just as much depth. Zagreb opens the summer with the INmusic Festival in late June and closes the year with its multi-award-winning Advent; Pula screens films inside a 2,000-year-old Roman amphitheatre at the Pula Film Festival; and Zadar, Rijeka and the islands add their own music, light and food festivals across the season.
This page lists the marquee 2026 festivals we track on Wanderistan, with links to our event pages where we have verified the venue and timing. Editions and exact dates shift year to year, so always confirm the programme and tickets on the official organiser page before you travel.

Coast and capital — where the big festivals are
Split is the electronic-music hub. Ultra Europe, one of the largest dance festivals in the world, takes over the Poljud stadium area for three days in mid-July, drawing tens of thousands and spinning off island after-parties on Hvar, Brač and Vis. Around it, the Split Summer Festival brings opera and drama to Diocletian's Palace through July and August.
Dubrovnik is the cultural heavyweight. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival, running 10 July to 25 August, stages theatre, classical concerts and opera against the city walls, in Lovrijenac fortress and on Stradun itself — a six-week programme in one of the most photogenic settings in Europe.
Inland and in Istria the calendar broadens out: Zagreb's INmusic is the country's biggest open-air rock festival, Pula screens cinema inside its Roman Arena, and Zadar, Rijeka and the islands fill the gaps with classical, world-music, light and food events from spring to December.
FAQ
- What are the biggest festivals in Croatia in 2026?
- Ultra Europe in Split (mid-July) is the biggest by attendance and one of the world's largest electronic-music festivals. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival (10 July–25 August) is the flagship cultural festival, the Pula Film Festival screens films in a Roman amphitheatre in mid-July, and INmusic in Zagreb (late June) is the country's major rock festival.
- When is festival season in Croatia?
- The peak runs from late June to late August along the coast, anchored by INmusic, Ultra Europe, the Dubrovnik and Split summer festivals and the Pula Film Festival. The season then tapers into autumn with film and food festivals and finishes with the country's acclaimed Advent Christmas markets in December.
- Is Ultra Europe in Split worth planning a trip around?
- Yes — Ultra Europe is a three-day electronic-music event in mid-July that has made Split a global dance-music destination, with official island after-parties on Hvar, Brač and Vis. It sells out and fills the city, so book travel and accommodation well ahead.
- Where can I confirm exact 2026 festival dates?
- Always check the official organiser pages — Ultra Europe, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the Pula Film Festival and INmusic each publish their own dates and ticketing. Croatian National Tourist Board pages and our individual event pages help cross-check the calendar.
