A Public Conversation on Health, Wellbeing, and Obesity is a free public meeting from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, held at 6 Kildare St in Dublin on 20 October 2026, from 18:00 to 19:30. Attendees can join in person or online, and registration is requested. Journalist Alison O’Connor (The Sunday Times) chairs the discussion. Prof Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist at St Vincent’s University Hospital, and Orla Walsh, billed as one of Ireland’s leading dieticians, will give practical tips for healthier living. The meeting is designed to cut through misinformation with clear, evidence-based information from experts. It also focuses on obesity care, covering early diagnosis, person-centred approaches and care pathways. Prof O’Shea speaks on these topics alongside Dr Ximena Ramos Salas, a public health researcher whose work centres on preventing weight bias and obesity stigma. Susie Birney, an obesity patient advocate nationally and through the European Coalition for People living with Obesity, also joins.
