The Dead by James Joyce is an immersive theatre experience at UCD Newman House, 85 St Stephen's Green, Dublin, running from 20 November 2026 to 31 January 2027. Louise Lowe adapted and directs the production, which ANU and Landmark Productions present in association with MoLI, the Museum of Literature Ireland. The show takes place in the historical interior and unseen rooms of the house.
Audiences arrive in the hallway and are greeted by the maid Lily, then climb the staircase to an evening of laughter, music and dance. The two previous runs sold out. The performance lasts 75 minutes with no interval and is a promenade piece, so the audience moves with and around the actors through several historic rooms.
Audiences are limited to 75 people at a time. Hugh O'Conor plays Gabriel Conroy and Kate Stanley Brennan plays Gretta Conroy. Age guidance is 12+.
