Willy Russell's Shirley Valentine is a play staged at Pavilion Theatre in Dublin on 6 and 7 November 2026. Norma Sheahan stars. Performances are on Friday 6 November at 20:00 and Saturday 7 November at 20:00, with a matinée on Saturday 7 November at 14:30.
The play was first performed in 1986, and this production marks its 40th anniversary. Shirley is a 45-year-old housewife stuck in a dreary marriage and a humdrum life. While she prepares her husband's dinner of egg and chips, she wonders when she lost her hopeful, youthful self.
She talks to her kitchen wall, and when a chance to travel to Greece appears, she takes it. The play has won an Olivier Award for Best Comedy and a Tony Award for Best Play, and inspired an Oscar-nominated film.
Tickets cost €25/23 plus a booking fee. The running time is approximately 125 minutes including an interval.
