Salomé by Oscar Wilde is staged on the Main Stage at Teatru Manoel in Valletta from 6 to 15 November 2026, with performances at 8:00 pm and 7:00 pm.
Salomé by Oscar Wilde is a tragic play inspired by the biblical story of Salome and John the Baptist. Written in poetic language and based on Wilde's original French text, it explores themes of desire, power, obsession and revenge, following Salome's obsession with Jokanaan towards a shocking and tragic conclusion. The production is directed by Adrian Buckle, with set design by Romualdo Moretti, costume design by Aleksandra Idowiak and movement direction by Chakib Zidi.
Salome is played by Timothy Blore. Performances take place on the Main Stage at Teatru Manoel on Friday 6 November at 8:00 pm, Saturday 7 November at 8:00 pm, Sunday 8 November at 7:00 pm, Friday 13 November at 8:00 pm, Saturday 14 November at 8:00 pm and Sunday 15 November at 8:00 pm. Admission is for ages 16+ and the production includes nudity.
A Q&A session follows the performance of Sunday 8 November, with the participation of biblical scholar Josef Briffa s.j. and Oscar Wilde expert Francis Spiteri Paris, and audience members are welcome to join. The production is supported by the Friends of the Manoel.
