Wrocław Christmas Market 2026 runs 20 Nov 2026-7 Jan 2027 around the Rynek, free entry

The Wrocław Christmas Market is one of Poland's largest, filling the historic Rynek (market square) and three adjoining streets with wooden stalls, seasonal food, crafts and family attractions. The 2026/2027 edition is the market's 16th, organized by PIK Wrocław, the city's tourism information body.

Dates and opening hours. The market runs from 20 November 2026 to 7 January 2027, according to the official PIK Wrocław site (pik.wroclaw.pl), open daily from 10:00 to 21:00. It closes entirely on 24 and 25 December and on 1 January. On 26 December it opens later than usual, at 13:00. On 31 December, food and drink stalls stay open into the early hours, until roughly 02:00 on 1 January, for New Year's Eve.

Where it is. Stalls fill four zones: all four sides of the Rynek around the Old Town Hall; Plac Solny, just off the square; two stretches of Świdnicka street leading from the Rynek toward the underground passage; and Oławska street, the pedestrian route toward the Dominikańska gallery. In recent editions the market has counted more than 200 wooden houses across these zones.

What to eat and buy. Expect the standard Polish Christmas-market range: mulled wine and hot beer, pierogi, oscypek (smoked sheep cheese), kiełbasa, gingerbread and other seasonal pastries, plus handmade ornaments, wool goods and crafts. Traditional ceramic souvenir mugs used for hot drinks are sold at multiple stalls across the market, a running feature of recent editions.

Attractions. Recent editions have included themed photo-friendly wooden houses, a multi-level fairy-tale house with a viewing platform on Plac Solny, a "gift factory" display, and an obstacle course for children, alongside live music and a seasonal programme through the run. Wheelchair accessibility ramps have been installed near some stalls and attractions in past editions; check the market's own accessibility information for the current year's specifics.

Getting there. The market sits in Wrocław's compact Old Town, walkable from most central hotels. PIK Wrocław has noted a free park-and-ride option during the market, available from 16:00 to 05:00, plus a dedicated tram line ("line 0") serving the market for visitors arriving by public transport, which is worth using given very limited street parking near the Rynek.

Tips. Entry to the market is free — visitors pay only for food, drinks and items bought from vendors. Because the market closes entirely on 24 and 25 December and reopens later than usual on 26 December, plan around those dates if visiting during the holiday itself. The market draws very large crowds, historically reported in the hundreds of thousands over its run, so weekday evenings outside the December 20-January 1 peak tend to be noticeably calmer than weekends.
