Kraków's Sylwester (New Year's Eve) centres on the same Rynek Główny that hosts the city's Christmas market — a free open-air concert with major Polish performers, big screens and a laser/light show, building to the midnight countdown.

Quick answer
The 31 December date and Rynek Główny location are an established annual pattern; the specific 2026 line-up and stage details had not been published as of late July 2026. Sources also disagree on whether a formal fireworks display runs every year, or whether the light/laser show substitutes for it — flagged honestly below rather than asserted either way.

Planning your visit
Crowds build through the afternoon on 31 December — arrive early for a central view, or watch from one of the bars and restaurants ringing the square that open onto it.
Combine with the Christmas market: Kraków's market historically runs through to around 26 December (some years to 1 January), so the square is still dressed for the season when Sylwester arrives.
