52nd Estoril Lisbon Festival - Canceled

The 52nd Estoril Lisbon Festival, originally scheduled for July 2026, has been canceled following the passing of its founder and director, Professor José António Piñeiro Nagy. The festival was set to take place across multiple iconic venues in Lisbon, Estoril, and Cascais, including the Sé Patriarcal, Panteão Nacional, and Teatro Tivoli BBVA.

Under the theme "Celebramos Património," the program aimed to blend music with architecture and history, featuring performances by Ensemble Darcos, the Coro de Câmara da Escola Artística do Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa, and flamenco pianist Antón Cortés. Other artists included guitarist Piotr Pereverzev, theorbo player Thomas Dunford, organist Jan Vermeire, and the Officium Ensemble.

All related activities—the 24th Estoril Interpretation Competition and the 62nd International Music Courses of Estoril—have also been canceled. The festival's cancellation marks a significant loss for the classical music scene in the Lisbon region.
