A Gorda

Maria Luísa is no longer fat, but she still thinks like one. After undergoing weight-loss surgery, she sheds forty kilos and confronts a new body and a new identity. This is the premise of *A Gorda*, a theatrical adaptation of Isabela Figueiredo's novel, directed by Sofia de Portugal and starring Maria Rueff.

The play weaves a story about self-love, a great youthful love, and the deepest heartbreak one can experience. It also explores parental love and its absence, set against the backdrop of a flourishing and contradictory Portugal after the 25th of April revolution. Audiences can expect a poignant and thought-provoking performance at Teatro Maria Matos.
