Overview
Marilyn: Icon of the Century is a Lisbon cultural event at Centro Comercial Colombo, listed on Agenda Cultural Lisboa. Check the official listing for exact times, tickets and any last-minute changes. Tickets Free.
This summer, Lisbon's Centro Comercial Colombo hosts a major international exhibition celebrating the centenary of Marilyn Monroe. Featuring over 100 original objects from the Ted Stampfer Collection—the world's largest private collection dedicated to the actress—the show offers an intimate journey through her life, career, and cultural legacy.
The exhibition is structured into 12 thematic sections, tracing Monroe's path from her birth and early influences through her modeling career, Hollywood stardom, and enduring legacy. Visitors can explore original costumes, accessories, personal documents, photographs, and multimedia content, all housed in a temporary museum pavilion designed by Diogo Aguiar Studio. The space deliberately contrasts the public persona of Marilyn Monroe with the private Norma Jeane.
Curated by Ted Stampfer himself, the experience is both immersive and educational, making it a must-see for fans of classic cinema and pop culture. The exhibition is part of the "A Arte Chegou ao Colombo" project and is free to attend, running daily from late morning until evening.
