Everclear is an American rock band that came together in Portland, Oregon, in 1992. Art Alexakis, who serves as the band's lead songwriter, vocalist and guitarist, formed the group. During the period when the band was most popular, bassist Craig Montoya and drummer Greg Eklund completed the lineup.
The band put out a debut album, World of Noise, independently in 1993 before signing with Capitol Records. Their first three Capitol albums -- Sparkle and Fade (1995), So Much for the Afterglow (1997) and Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile (2000) -- all reached platinum sales status in the United States. The two albums that followed, Songs from an American Movie Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude (2000) and Slow Motion Daydream (2003), did not sustain that commercial momentum, and Montoya and Eklund departed soon afterwards.
Alexakis performed solo for a short time before continuing under the Everclear name with new members. Three more studio albums followed: Welcome to the Drama Club (2006), Invisible Stars (2012) and Black is the New Black (2015).
The band continues to tour and perform live, and has staged numerous editions of its long-running 1990s nostalgia music festival, the Summerland Tour, across the 2010s. A new studio album is set to arrive in 2026.
