City Ballet Of San Diego Presents: American Icons closes City Ballet's dance series celebrating America's 250th anniversary. The program features three ballets from the 20th century by three American masters. CONCERTO BAROCCO has choreography by George Balanchine (1941) and music, "Concerto in D minor for Two Violins, BWV 1043", by Johann Sebastian Bach (1730).

ASH has choreography by Peter Martins (1991) and music, "Ash", by Michael Torke (1991). LIGHT RAIN is a San Diego Premiere, with choreography by Gerald Arpino (1981) and music by Douglas Adamz and Russ Gauthier (1981).

City Ballet of San Diego Artistic Director Steven Wistrich gives a pre-performance lecture with insights and perspectives into the program. The lecture begins 45 minutes prior to the performance.
