The Mountain Goats at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles

The Mountain Goats play Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles on 24 November 2026 at 20:00. The group is an American indie folk band formed in Claremont, California, by singer-songwriter John Darnielle. Since 2003 the band has been based in Durham, North Carolina.

For many years Darnielle was the sole member, despite the plural name, and he remains the core member while working with a range of collaborators. Through the 1990s the band was known for low-fidelity home recordings, most notably made on a cassette deck boombox, released on cassette or vinyl 7-inch.

Since 2002 the Mountain Goats have taken a more polished approach, often recording studio albums with a full band. Bassist Peter Hughes officially joined the band in 2002.
