Shadows of Samhain Halloween at The Hunt Museum, Limerick

Shadows of Samhain Halloween is a guided tour at The Hunt Museum in Limerick, running from 24 to 31 October 2026. The tour takes its starting point from a Latin phrase meaning "remember you must die". It invites visitors to reflect on how death, legacy and the afterlife have been represented in art and artifacts across time and cultures.

The tour covers religious iconography, funerary objects, symbolic motifs and philosophical reflections on the fleeting nature of life. It looks at the deeper meanings behind selected works in the museum's collection, and at how artists and craftsmen have grappled with the inevitability of death, both to mourn and to celebrate life and the stories left behind.
