Bodo Wartke is a German cabaret artist, pianist and singer-songwriter, born on 21 May 1977 in Hamburg. He grew up in Reinbek and Bad Schwartau, began physics studies in Berlin in 1997, and switched after two semesters to a music teaching degree at the Universitat der Kunste Berlin. He lives in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
He works mainly as a solo piano cabaret artist, and the German Wikipedia page counts seven piano cabaret programmes and two theatre pieces, all made with director Sven Schutze. Programmes include Achillesverse (premiere 2003), Noah war ein Archetyp (premiere November 2006), Klaviersdelikte (premiere January 2012) and Wunderpunkt (premiere 5 December 2024). The solo theatre piece Konig Odipus premiered in May 2009, and Jetzt oder Sinfonie! was staged with the WDR Funkhausorchester in 2021.
From the second half of 2023 his rap-style tongue-twister series Zungenbrecher 4.0 spread widely online. His awards include the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis in the chanson, music and song category in 2004, the Deutscher Sprachpreis of the Henning-Kaufmann-Stiftung in 2023 and the Bayerischer Kabarettpreis (music prize) in 2024.
