Jalen Ngonda
Jalen Ngonda is an American soul and R&B singer-songwriter born February 22, 1994, in Wheaton, Maryland. He became interested in Motown music around age 11 after hearing The Temptations, and taught himself guitar, drums, piano and vocals through his teenage years.

Acerca de Jalen Ngonda
At 19 he moved to the United Kingdom to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts after the school found his music online, and he built a following through live shows in Liverpool and London. His debut album, Come Around and Love Me (2023), reached number 68 on the UK Albums Chart and topped the UK's Independent Album Breakers Chart, drawing comparisons to classic soul singers such as Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield and David Ruffin.
Signed to the Brooklyn soul and funk label Daptone Records, Ngonda released the singles Illusions and Anyone in Love in 2024, both of which charted on the UK Sales Chart, and drew public praise from artists including Elton John, Snoop Dogg and Kehlani. Rolling Stone has described him as a leading figure in the current revival of classic soul music.
Ngonda won Soul Act of the Year at the 2025 Jazz FM Awards, and released his second studio album, Doctrine of Love, in June 2026, continuing to record and perform in the Motown-influenced style that has defined his career.
