Acerca de Jill Scott
Scott's 2000 debut album, Who Is Jill Scott?: Words and Sounds Vol. 1, reached number seventeen on the Billboard 200 and went platinum, establishing her as a leading voice of the neo soul era. She has won three Grammy Awards from fourteen nominations, including Best Urban/Alternative Performance in 2005 and Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance in 2007, and has released four further studio albums, including Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2 (2004) and The Light of the Sun (2011), both of which reached gold status or higher, with The Light of the Sun debuting at number one.
Alongside music, Scott built an acting career, making her film debut in 2007 in Hounddog and in Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married?, reprising the latter role in its 2010 sequel. She starred in the BBC and HBO series The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency and later appeared in the television series Black Lightning. She also founded the Blues Babe Foundation, which provides scholarships and educational support to students in her native Philadelphia.
Scott released Woman in 2015, which debuted at number one, and returned in February 2026 with her sixth studio album, To Whom This May Concern, continuing to balance her recording career with acting and philanthropy.
