Acerca de Judah & the Lion
The group built a genre-blending sound that fuses folk instrumentation such as banjo and mandolin with hip-hop percussion, rock energy and pop melodies. Their single "Take It All Back" topped Billboard's Alternative Songs chart for three weeks in 2016 and was later certified platinum, while Folk Hop n' Roll (2016) and Pep Talks (2019, number 18 on the Billboard 200) extended the band's commercial run.
The band's debut full-length, Kids These Days (2014), introduced its Americana-folk roots before subsequent releases pushed the sound toward electropop and rock textures, reflecting a deliberate evolution away from strictly acoustic folk arrangements.
Following a hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic and the November 2021 departure of founding banjo player Nate Zuercher, the group continued as a duo of Judah Akers and Brian Macdonald, releasing the albums Revival (2022) and The Process (2024) and bringing its catalogue to five studio albums.
