Saint Etienne
Saint Etienne are an English band from Croydon, Greater London, formed in 1990 by songwriter-producers Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs, who took the group's name from the French football club AS Saint-Étienne. Vocalist Sarah Cracknell became the group's permanent singer after contributing to the early single Nothing Can Stop Us and their debut album, and the trio has remained together since.

Acerca de Saint Etienne
Emerging from London's indie dance scene, the band fused club culture with 1960s pop influences on its debut, Foxbase Alpha (1991), before broadening into a run of albums including So Tough (1993), Tiger Bay (1994), Good Humor (1998), Sound of Water (2000), Finisterre (2002), Tales from Turnpike House (2005), and I've Been Trying to Tell You (2021). Notable songs include Only Love Can Break Your Heart, You're in a Bad Way, and He's on the Phone.
Over more than three decades, the group's music shifted from dance-oriented singles toward more introspective, often beatless, atmospheric material, while Stanley and Wiggs also built parallel careers as writers and reissue curators outside the band.
Saint Etienne has said its 2025 album International will be its final studio recording, a planned conclusion intended to end the group's career on its own terms.
