Acerca de The Chicks

The band's first two major-label albums, Wide Open Spaces (1998) and Fly (1999), both went diamond, and the group has been called the best-selling all-female band since 1991. Later releases included Home (2002), Taking the Long Way (2006) and Gaslighter (2020). The Chicks have won 13 Grammy Awards, ten CMA awards and eight ACM awards, sweeping five Grammy categories in 2007, including Album of the Year, for Taking the Long Way.

In March 2003, Natalie Maines told a London audience the band was ashamed President George W. Bush was from Texas, criticizing the impending Iraq War; the remark led to a country-radio boycott and death threats against band members, shaping much of the group's subsequent songwriting. The band dropped "Dixie" from its name in June 2020, citing the word's ties to slavery amid the reckoning following George Floyd's killing.

Gaslighter, the band's first album in fourteen years and first under the new name, arrived in 2020, drawing largely on Maines's divorce and produced by Jack Antonoff. The band reunited for touring in 2016 after an extended hiatus, and founding bassist Laura Lynch, who left before the group's breakthrough, died in December 2023.
