Heinz Strunk - Memories of Heidelberg is a reading from his new novel, taking place at Kulturetage Halle in Oldenburg on Sunday, 21 March 2027, at 19:00. The novel follows Bertram and Isolde, a couple from Oldenburg getting on in years, who book a short holiday in Heidelberg. They hope it will clear the gloom hanging over their marriage.

Their boutique hotel is expensive but not very good, and they pick a new regular Italian restaurant on an old river boat on the Neckar. Over the course of a week their marriage deteriorates, and the evening visits to the restaurant boat turn more and more into a disappointment. The story ends in a catastrophe, all set to the schlager oldie Memories of Heidelberg playing on a loop.
