Jan Garbarek feat. Trilok Gurtu in Concert

Two titans of jazz and world music share the stage for an evening of transcendent improvisation. Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, known for his ethereal, ECM-sound, joins forces with Indian percussionist Trilok Gurtu, whose innovative style blends Indian classical rhythms with jazz fusion and world music.

Gurtu's performances are a visual and sonic spectacle: he plays without a drum stool in a half-kneeling position, using an unconventional kick drum and a mix of tablas and western drums. His signature technique includes dipping cymbals and shells into water to create shimmering effects. Together, Garbarek and Gurtu promise a concert that pushes boundaries, weaving together abstract improvisation, Indian classical music, and Asian pop influences.

This collaboration brings together two artists who have each redefined their genres. Garbarek's haunting saxophone lines and Gurtu's dazzling percussion create a dialogue that is both meditative and explosive.
