The Sigurd Frosterus collection of early modern art is on display in the Frosterus Hall at Amos Rex. Featuring some of the Sigurd Frosterus Foundation Collection’s most important works from the early twentieth century, the presentation brings out the vibrancy and colour intensity of the paintings. Early modern art fills the Frosterus Hall at Amos Rex with the Sigurd Frosterus Foundation Collection, a tribute to Colourism and the vibrancy of modernist painting. The display brings together Post-Impressionist works by international and Finnish artists, with Magnus Enckell and Alfred William Finch especially prominent — each appears in more than ten works.
The exhibition also highlights Sigurd Frosterus’s role in bringing foreign artworks to Finland, a story tied to his career as an architect and art critic. Around 50 works make up the display, and a gallery guide points to pieces by Finch, Enckell, Paul Signac, Pierre Bonnard and others.
