NEW SINGLE • LEAD TRACK FROM FORTHCOMING THIRD ALBUM; SUNSHINE DEATH Afflecks Palace return with “Bad Behaviour” on Monday 7th September 2026, the first single to be taken from their forthcoming third album, Sunshine Death. The LP is due for release on January 15th, 2027 via independent Manchester label; Spirit of Spike Island. Self-produced by the band and mixed in Los Angeles by Adam Greenspan, whose previous work includes IDLES, Refused and Nick Cave, “Bad Behaviour” introduces an album born out of an extraordinary and life-altering period for frontman J. Fender.
While flying home from America to the UK, Fender suffered a “widowmaker” heart attack at 40,000ft — beginning a long process of physical recovery and, perhaps more significantly, coming to terms with the psychological aftermath of suddenly finding himself confronted by his own mortality. “Bad Behaviour” is about what happened next. J. FENDER EXPLAINS: “The psychological impact of a heart attack, for me, was incredibly debilitating.
But I came to realise that anxiety and depression cannot hit a moving target. That’s really what ‘Bad Behaviour’ is about — making sure you keep pushing forward physically and mentally, not giving yourself chance to notice the Reaper’s silhouette standing behind you. Use momentum and a flash of occasional wildness as a means of resistance and survival.
” That sense of forward momentum runs directly through the music. “Bad Behaviour” is urgent, confrontational and alive; less a song about a heart attack than a song about refusing to allow one catastrophic moment to dictate everything that follows it.
